Obituary of Arthur M. McFarlane

Hamlin - Arthur Gordon Michael McFarlane passed on Friday, May 21, 2021 at home at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Keady McFarlane; his children, Jeanne Brightly, Douglas (Catherine) McFarlane, Stuart (Laura) McFarlane and Robert McFarlane; his 7 grandchildren, Christopher (Marisa) McFarlane, Joseph (Heather) Brightly, Lindsay (Zachary) Hahn, Margaret "Meg" (Matthew) Perley, Gregory( Emily) McFarlane, Paul (Celia) Brightly and Sean (Kaitlyn) McFarlane; his 11 great-grandchildren, Liam Arthur McFarlane, Wyatt Patrick McFarlane, Samuel Richard Hahn, Connor Merrill McFarlane, Elaina Joy Hahn, Marlene Rose McFarlane, Myra Jean Brightly, Ada Grace Brightly, Jacob Maxwell Hahn, Davis Stuart McFarlane, Elijah Mathias Perley; his sisters-in-law, Catherine "Kit" Pollicove, Peggy Rickman and Margaret Corbin. Arthur was predeceased by his siblings, John, Ellen and Patrick; and granddaughter, Leah McFarlane.

Art was a machine builder by trade and an inventor at heart. Upon "retirement" from GM, he owned and operated Hamlin Sawmill, utilizing equipment he built and technology he devised.

Family and friends will be received at Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue in Hilton on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 4-7 PM. Interment to be held privately in Lakeside Cemetery.
