Obituary of Dick Girvin

Rochester - Richard A. "Dick" Girvin went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2024, at the age of 73, after a battle with cancer.  He is predeceased by his parents, Hibbert and Theresa Girvin; his in-laws, Arthur and Jean Weather; and his sister, Ann Friga.  He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy; his daughters, Theresa Girvin and Katie (Reverend Thomas) Tharp; his granddaughter, Katelynn Tharp; his brothers and sisters, Arthur (Barbara) Girvin, Patricia (Joe) DiPassio, John (Barbara) Girvin, and Mary (John) Polimeni; his nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Richard was a retired Rochester City Firefighter, where he worked for 26 years, and also a retired bus driver for the Gates Central School District where he worked for 38 years.  

No prior calling.  Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Richard's Life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 190 Oak Street, Batavia, NY 14020.  Following the formal service, the Celebration of Dick's life will continue with a reception in Fellowship Hall.  Dick's special request is to have everyone attending wear their favorite sports jersey.  Private Interment in Parma Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's memory to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624.
