Kathi was diagnosed in the beginning of January with Liver Cancer and was admitted to Rochester General Hospital on the 17th. She was given one round of chemo immediately and after a short but courageous battle, she passed away at the Journey Home in Greece on Thursday night February 16th surrounded by her closest friends and family. The Engle Family would like to give a special thank you to the Dr.'s and especially the Nursing staff at Rochester General Hospital for their amazing care given to Kathi during her month long stay there. She did not battle alone and had an amazing support group that was by her side 24 hours a day. Kathi and her family appreciate the overwhelming love and support that was given to her in her time of need. There are so many people to thank and we love and appreciate you all.
Kathi's true love was her family including her dog Brody. Her biggest joys in life were vacations spent in the 1,000 Islands, her trips to Las Vegas, and Saturdays spent with her Granddaughter Zoe. She enjoyed mother daughter time with Courtney just sitting around and talking or pulling on the lever of a slot machine and daily phone calls with Jamie. Howie always played travel agent and set up a number of amazing trips and adventures creating memories that will last a lifetime. Her second home was her cottage in the 1,000 Islands, the place where family and friends all became one big "Compound" family. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother ("Nannie") who always put her family first. She will be truly missed by many.
