Obituary of Eleanor B. Bauch
Hamlin – Eleanor B. Bauch passed peacefully in her home on Monday June 28, 2021 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett (August 29,2017), and her grandson Matthew Fitton (August 12, 2003). She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Spencer) Begemann, Karen Leidig and Lawrence Bauch; and her beloved grandsons, Anthony Begemann, Daniel Fitton (Courtney) Fitton and Adam Leidig; much loved nieces, Elaine (Rusty), Marilyn (Tim); and nephew, Neil (Andy).
Eleanor was born on April 18, 1934 and grew up in Kent, NY, and graduated from Kendall High School. She received her certification from the Simmons Beauty School in June of 1952 and began her career as a Hairdresser. Eleanor married Everett Bauch on September 20, 1952. She believed in education strongly, going back to college after raising her children. At the age of 43, Eleanor earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Brockport with nearly a 4.0 GPA. Eleanor had a penchant for learning her whole life.
Eleanor had a very rich life on the family farm where she was the Business Administrator for Bauch Farms and often helped her husband wherever needed. She was an avid reader and always had interest in current events. Her many hand-crafted quilts were gifts to her family. She enjoyed music and writing. Her appreciation for nature included gardening, her beautiful flowers and animals. Upon their semi-retirement from farming, Eleanor and Everett enjoyed card playing, travel and being the number one fans for all their grandsons in sports and activities.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hamlin. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.
Eleanor’s peace and faith in Jesus Christ was strong and her favorite prayer was the Serenity Prayer.
God, grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And Wisdom to know the difference.
Services were held privately at Lakeview Cemetery in Brockport, NY on July 1, 2021
