When Bill came to Australia for his teacher exchange he was posted to Lara Primary School. A small school situated at the base of the You Yangs in a town called Lara south of Melbourne in Victoria. He taught a Grade 5 and 6 class and became an instant "hit" with the children and the staff. Bill made lifelong friends with many members of staff. Chris Browne and Lesley Bruton even came over to Hilton and visited 169 Hill Rd. Bill returned to Australia and visited many of the friends he made whilst here teaching. He was very fond of the Lara Ladies - Chris, Lesley, Rosemary, Ros and Laurel and even came out to tea with us on an occasion. We all oved receiving his Christmas cards and yearly newsletter and loved hearing about his story telling and his beloved cars.
We are deeply saddened by Bill's passing as he was a "ripper bloke!" A truer gentleman you would never find. So kind, genuine and caring. Even though we are miles away we are all deeply saddened and wish to send out condolences to all his family. The world has lost one of the best!
