Obituary of Roy D. Lawrenson

Roy Lawrenson, also known as Dad, Grandpa Roy, and G-pa passed away surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the age of 83.

Roy was born on December 14, 1939 to the late Herbert and Anna (Rose) Lawrenson. He was married to his late wife, Joanne Lawrenson in 1989, who lost her battle to cancer in 2000. Roy served our country in the US Army for 3 years. He was very tech savvy and as such enjoyed collecting cameras and always doing something on his computer. Roy was also a pistole enthusiast and enjoyed going to the range to shoot targets with family. He loved the Lord and spent a lot of his time attending many services and events at his church, the Walker Bible Baptist Church.

Roy is survived by his children, Janet (Wayne) Zygloke, Juliann (Todd) Woodard, and Stanley (Kim) Lawrenson; his step-son, Charles (Tammy) Beaney; his grandchildren, Ryan Zygloke, Melissa (Ethan) Walsh, Kitana (Nathan) Burgess, Bowen (Elizabeth) Woodard, Elisabeth Lawrenson, Zechariah (Julie) Lawrenson, Bethany (Daniel) Mowery, Josiah (Malaya) Lawrenson, Chloe Lawrenson, Steven Lawrenson, and Luke Lawrenson; his step-grandchildren, Gary Jr. (Karen) Tobin and Chaz Beaney, his 5 great-grandchildren; his first wife, Bea Patton; and many cousins and dear friends.

Roy was predeceased by his stepdaughter and her husband, Lori and Gary Tobin; and his step-grandson, Tom Tobin.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 30th from 10 AM to 12 noon, followed by Roy's Funeral Service at 12 noon, at Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue in Hilton. Interment will be held after the service in Falls Cemetery in Greece.
