Obituary of Beverly Ann Copey
Hilton – Beverly Ann Copey passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024, at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Bessie Emerald; her husband, Paul Copey; and her brother, Frank Emerald Jr. She is survived by her children, Scott (Robin) Copey and Steph; her grandchildren, Owen Copey and Sean Copey; her brother, Robert (Karen) Emerald; her sister-in-law, Joyce Emerald; and her nieces and nephews.
Born to a family of Sicilian immigrants in Rochester’s Goodman Avenue neighborhood, Beverly had fond memories of her childhood, took great pride in her heritage, and passed that pride on to her children and grandchildren. A devoted wife and mother, she was married for 51 years, raised two children, and selflessly gave to her family even when times were tough. Beverly worked for Hickey Freeman in its heyday, and later retired after almost 30 years of service to Tops Supermarkets where she was valued for her work ethic and customer service skills. In retirement, she missed her customers the most. She loved to cook and had a keen interest in politics and current affairs. Beverly was a woman of great faith who spoke to Jesus every day. She taught us about perseverance and commitment. She taught us to take pride in our work. She taught us to make the best of what we had.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc, 735 East Avenue, Hilton. A Graveside Service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 am.
