Obituary of Kelly Jayne Doran
Spencerport - Kelly Jayne Doran passed away on July 27, 2024, at the age of 57, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kelly will be remembered for her beauty and style, infectious smile, lust for fun and adventure, but most of all for her big heart.
Kelly was predeceased by her father, Robert Doran. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Doran; her son, Joe (Mary) Doran; her grandson, Joe “Joe-Bear” Doran; her brothers, Scott and Patrick (Donna) Doran; her sister, Kim (Tom) Boedicker; her life partner, Brett Williams; her bonus girls, Anna, Jane and Lily Williams; her nieces, Scarlett, Aryanna and Daisy; and her nephews, Dominic and Anthony.
Kelly wrote her own obituary as she wanted people to know her and how much she loved life. In part she said: “I honestly hated every minute of being sick. I only went kicking and screaming. I loved life. I loved the beach - I mean really LOVED it!! I was mesmerized at a very young age by everything to do with the ocean. I loved going out to concerts, camping, and spending time with my partner, Brett, my family and my friends.”
Kelly was a proud mom of son Joe. She talked with Joe almost every single day and it gave her great joy watching him grow into a man, husband, and father. She had fond childhood memories of vacationing on the Jersey shore and continued that tradition with Joe for her annual family trip to her favorite beach – Wildwood, NJ. This trip was the one thing she most looked forward to every summer. Kelly was proud of how strong, compassionate, and patient Joe was at the end when she needed him most – it helped give her strength to finish her life journey.
Kelly was blessed to gain a daughter in Joe’s wife, Mary, who instantly became a best friend to Kelly. In their first summer together, Kelly invited Mary to stay at her house for a joy filled month, eating junk food, watching movies, frequent trips to the beach as well as spending time with Joe and Kelly’s entire family. Every year after that, they vacationed together as a family at the beach. Kelly loved riding bikes with Mary on the boardwalk.
Kelly was overjoyed with her grandson and loved being called “glam-ma”. She dreamed of walking on the beach with him, looking for shells, and making more memories with him. She would have done anything to watch “Joe bear” grow up.
Kelly loved her life partner, Brett, who she considered her “rock”. She loved camping by the ocean with him and was blessed to get one last trip to see the Florida Keys and to Assateague to see the wild horses on the beach. Kelly was grateful that Brett stood by her to the end; he was the love of her life.
Kelly always wanted to have a large family of her own and considered herself fortunate to have three "bonus girls", Anna, Jane and Lily, Brett’s daughters who brought laughter and great joy to her life as she watched them grow into young adults.
She was a beloved daughter to Pat, who first introduced Kelly to the beach, which Kelly came to love everything about. She dearly missed her dad, who passed away in 2020 -- taken too soon from them.
Kelly was delighted to be big sister to Kim, Scott, and Patrick, and had so many fun memories growing up with them. She was a loving aunt to her nieces, Scarlett, Aryanna and Daisy, and nephews, Dominic, and Anthony.
Kelly was always so grateful for the love and support she received from the Progno family, particularly “Grandma” Marie and “Grandpa” Mike, for their help raising Kelly’s son Joe. They opened their hearts and their home to provide a safe and supportive haven for Kelly and her son whenever they needed it.
Kelly had two careers, 18 years as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines where she traveled the world and later in life in robotic automated assembly equipment sales. At Capital Industries, her success led her to be one of the top salespeople. She continued her work right up until the end.
Kelly loved her friends from Cardinal Mooney, as well as many great friends from the University of Dayton. She had the best of times at both schools. Kelly was blessed with three very special life-long friends, Gail Tabone, Kelly Dunnigan, and Tracy Page who were her angels and helped care for and comfort Kelly through the end of her life journey.
Kelly loved animals. She once had a squirrel named Ollie and a white rabbit named Tibby. Her favorite was her beautiful American Bulldog, Diesel.
Most of all, Kelly loved life – She stayed here as long as she could – she did not want to miss one minute. Kelly asks that in remembering her, you kiss your kids often, you try to put your feet in the ocean at least once a year, and you enjoy life as it is all too short.
There will be NO prior calling hours. A private Graveside Service will be held for Kelly followed by a Celebration of her Life that will be held at the Roger Robach Community Center, Ontario Beach Park on Sunday, August 25th at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be graciously accepted by the New York Bulldog Rescue at https://bulldog.rescueme.org/NewYork in Kelly's memory.
